"Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either 'CRAZY,' or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT," Trump wrote

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced on social media he's searching for a new law firm to represent him in an appeal against last week's jury verdict awarding $83.3 million to writer E. Jean Carroll.

He left a message to prospective hires in the Truth Social post, writing: "Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either 'CRAZY,' or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT." The former president's announcement follows his vow to appeal the jury's decision last Friday, predicated by the presiding federal judge's September ruling finding him liable for defamation.

It is this kind of news that has allowed me to catch my breath. I no longer see a turnip dictatorship as an inevitability; a real and immediate danger, but one that feels less and less likely.

Likewise, but don't get complacent. The threat isn't over yet.

Agreed, 100%. Why it’s still real and immediate, feels like there is some hope. We gotta work for it though.

It just has to get through the Supreme Court, not overturning a fundamental building block of the entire US justice system. Or more likely, stating that the reward "was too much."

And 3 of them seem to be on his side hell or high water; with a fourth being apparently really quite cheap to buy the loyalty of.

It's still a very real and persistent threat. Recent polls put him dangerously close, and he did alarmingly well in 2020.

Do not get complacent. We can win, but it is certainly not guaranteed. Stay active, and even contribute (time, money, etc) if possible.

100% true. I just am feeling more like the efforts will pay off than usual. Might just be the good day I’m having :)

And the "vote third party" trolls are out in way more force than they were in 2020 for whatever reason. It already feels worse than peak 2016. I really hope people are inoculated to this shit by now, but I'm not super confident.

I’m almost convinced we’re seeing a targeted misinfo campaign coming from some .ml and Lemmygrad users. The brainworms are severe.

[-] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

There is absolutely no question about this. These users are repeating right wing talking points almost verbatim and these "leftist" spaces protect them by removing anything which challenges their nonsense. We have literally seen this play out once already.
