is this an AnPrim space? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Hey! After seeing the main Anarchist sub on another instance be a bit of a shit show this one seems awesome and I do love me some solarpunk so this instance seems pretty cool as well.

But I gotta ask, is this instance anprim/anti-civ? I see green in the sub banner. It's not really a worldview I vibe with since I'm very much pro-tech, pro-civ, pro-AI, pro-medicine and pro-LGBT & disability rights, so if the majority here are of that persuasion I should probably bail, don't want to argue or start fights.

Where did you get this nonsense? It has completely different origins than (anarcho or not) transhumanism.

Oh, hello again. Did you forget the last time we had this conversation and you entirely failed to provide any reason for your position and then when I pointed out how you didn't provide clear arguments to any of your claims you just quit?

Would you like to continue where we left off except now you cite any sources that don't contradict you?

Maybe this will convince you: https://slrpnk.net/post/6195369

But you seem to be trolling anyway...

Okay, I read the article and I think it's changed my perspective somewhat.

I can belive that the origin of Solar Punk, that is the genre of fiction that first bore that name, has little to do with Transhumanism. I don't believe I have read the earliest Solar Punk fiction, and so I cannot make an accurate guess. At the same time the politics, philosophy, and social movement that's been tied up with that name is what I'm really trying to talk about. I believe that the philosophy that underpins what is currently referred to as "Solar Punk", as codified in the manifesto, is at least inspired or informed by either recent Anarcho-transhumanism or some previously novel synthesis of philosophies that includes Anarchism and Transhumanism. There's just too much that Solarpunk philosophy has in common with the things my friends and the wider H+ community have been saying for years for me to believe it's a coincidence.

What? I spent hours explaining why I believed that Solarpunk aligns with and likely is inspired at least in part by Anarcho-transhumanism; I gave a comprehensive analysis of the similarities and differences between the two. How can you call that trolling? That's so insulting.

I'm gonna read the article now.

Bro, I looked at the other conversation you linked, and two responses in, you just drop this outta nowhere:

As a side note this is why I don’t consider people like ol’musky transhumanists; he wants weird robots and brain implants because it looks futur-y, not because he’s grappled with the pros and cons of the solutions for decades and determined that this is the best way to help people. He’s a sham who pretends to know what he’s talking about after looking at a cool photo instead of honestly engaging with the philosophy he pretends to advocate. I am reminded of him through my interactions with you.

How do you expect people to react when you insult them for no other reason than politely disagreeing with you?

Yeah, that last sentence was uncalled for. I was feeling frustrated and dealing with some problems at work at the time, but I still shouldn't have said that.

Anarchism

Anarchism is a social and political theory and practice that works for a free society without domination and hierarchy.

Social Ecology

Social Ecology, developed from green anarchism, is the idea that our ecological problems have their ultimate roots in our social problems. This is because the domination of nature and our ecology by humanity has its ultimate roots in the domination humanity by humans. Therefore, the solutions to our ecological problems are found by addressing our social and ecological problems simultaneously.

Poetry and imagination must be integrated with science and technology, for we have evolved beyond an innocence that can be nourished exclusively by myths and dreams.

~ Murray Bookchin, The Ecology of Freedom

People want to treat ‘we’ll figure it out by working to get there’ as some sort of rhetorical evasion instead of being a fundamental expression of trust in the power of conscious collective effort.

~Anonymous, but quoted by Mariame Kaba, We Do This 'Til We Free Us

The end justifies the means. But what if there never is an end? All we have is means.

~Ursula K. Le Guin, The Lathe of Heaven

The assumption that what currently exists must necessarily exist is the acid that corrodes all visionary thinking.

~Murray Bookchin, "A Politics for the Twenty-First Century"

There can be no separation of the revolutionary process from the revolutionary goal. A society based on self-administration must be achieved by means of self-administration.

~Murray Bookchin, Post Scarcity Anarchism

In modern times humans have become a wolf not only to humans, but to all nature.

~Abdullah Öcalan

The ecological question is fundamentally solved as the system is repressed and a socialist social system develops. That does not mean you cannot do something for the environment right away. On the contrary, it is necessary to combine the fight for the environment with the struggle for a general social revolution...

~Abdullah Öcalan

Social ecology advances a message that calls not only for a society free of hierarchy and hierarchical sensibilities, but for an ethics that places humanity in the natural world as an agent for rendering evolution social and natural fully self-conscious.
