My dad is in his 70s and started driving for Uber/lyft. It really bummed me out when I heard this—and it’s not because he’s retired and wanted some extra cash. He never retired and this was his best option—in his eyes. He thinks no one is hiring old men like him. I don’t know if that’s even true. But it bums me out.
In a functioning society a 70+ senior shoul be able to not have to work. He should not have to feel like ha have to be hired.

I tried to help my dad find a day job before they started doing this. What employer wants an 80 year-old when they can get a cheap, young person?
