I know most people here are chads using Signal. Where I am though, government agencies and companies use WhatsApp, and you really have to use it whether you like it or not.

Work is impossible without WhatsApp too, and this is a great feature to have, since I have to contact lots of people, and not all of them I want to save to my contacts list.

Evangelicals finding new ways to reach the unsaved.

I have always used wa.me/PHONENUMBER to start a new chat with someone who is not on my contact list.

Fucking finally, I had to use a dedicated app for this

[-] meowseum@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

shit app, if it isnt that my social group revolves around using this crap, I would have jumped to using telegram solely. every now and then they add some stupid basic functions and marketed it as "new features" really disgust me.

Oh man, this app lacks so many quality of life features that if it wasn't for texting and calling some people and restaurants I would have uninstalled it a long time ago, wait thinking about it now I think I all the reasons that kept me using it are now gone! Hehe now I'll look into migrating my chat history to Telegram

#Update: just deleted it

Iš this why I've started getting scam calls not only to my phone number but also through WhatsApp?

[-] mikestevens@lemdro.id 3 points 1 year ago

This reminds me of how glad I am that so few people in my life use whatsapp. It's improved over the last few years, but I still find it an ugly and frustrating platform.

Unfortunately it’s a necessity outside of the US

[-] mikestevens@lemdro.id 1 points 1 year ago

I'm in Australia, haha. Don't get me wrong, a lot of Aussies use it. It just hasn't been something I've been forced into yet!

I would love timed messages even more...

[-] ouzkse@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It's about time!

[-] muaveri@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I'm using for quite some time now this app, that's doing exactly that & on the top of it has support for Signal, didn't know that they implemented this into wa.

[-] shashi154263@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Uh oh... I've been using this features since more than a month I think.

Amazing news, I don't know if there is a workaround for this for Android (most likely there is), but my gf which has an iPhone has been getting around this crap with an iOS Shortcut... Good to know no more workarounds for this.
