Ohhh the syntax for tagging subs is an exclamation point?

[–] Burns@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yep, and I the web UI it also autocompletes so much easier. Not sure about all the apps though

[–] Danatronic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

!fuckcars@lemmy.world

Doesn't auto complete on Liftoff.

On connect it renders your link excluding the exclamation mark, but the other one includes it as a part of the link... Odd see here

Wheel weights. Their wheels will be unbalanced, meaning their steering will vibrate at certain speeds, depending on what the new balance is.

It’s not unsafe per se, at least not primarily. It’s annoying as fuck tho.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Holy shit my brother I had seen these things for years, thrown in the ground and always figured they had something to do with cars, only didn't know WHAT. you sir have scratched that mental itch and my brain lobes are forever thankful

[–] Sheltac@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Hahaha no worries!

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Is that literally why they exist? To fuck with people?

[–] snooggums@kbin.social 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They are used to balance tires, but only one or a few in the right locations.

[–] shadeless@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago

Haha no, wheels and tires can't be produced balanced consistently. So after the tire is put on the wheel, you put those weights on to balance them.

[–] irkli@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

No, they are used to balance wheels and tires that are out of balance.

When a new tire is mounted on a wheel, it has to be balanced on a machine that spins it, locates the light side, operator adds weights to make it balance.

[–] Nioxic@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Nope. If you walk past cars you will often see this.

My car has a few one one of the rims

[–] DaCookeyMonsta@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I got a flat tire and needed to replace the tires. Since I was going to get new tires soon anyway my quick replacement was a used tire different from my others.

My car was unbalanced and it felt so weird, had to keep checking if I got another flat because the vibration feeling was so off.

[–] Wrench@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh shit. I had an old beater that would shake apart at certain rpms. It was a hand me down that I drove into the ground and didn't spend money on, so I never got it inspected. Didn't know the solution was so easy.

[–] at_an_angle@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

You could randomly stick weights on it and slowly figure out of if you really wanted to.

To balance a tire properly you need a bubble balancer.

Nice try, eBay wheel weight merchant.

[–] Kerrangutan@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I've been spending too much time on noncredibledefense, I thought they were ERA blocks at first glance.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Well, they can be... just not very good ERA blocks...

[–] TigrisMorte@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

Remove tire from rim, place shot put in tire and remount, victory.

[–] x4740N@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone getting the urge to steal these and sell them

[–] LillianVS@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

For a second I thought they were lithium batteries, then we'd have an attempted murder charge on our hands lol

[–] halfempty@kbin.social -1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Mess up their handling so they lose control and hit somebody? This is totally f*cked up.

[–] Pok@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Not sure if you're trying to be funny, but in case someone thinks you are being serious_ Unbalanced tyres will not cause someone to lose control. They'll get a little vibration feedback through the steering wheel, which may even be felt by passengers.

[–] doggle@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

This is an extremely unlikely outcome, but no reasonable person would be tampering with other people's cars after seeing a meme on lemmy anyway. We're just telling jokes here.

[–] itadakimasu@lemmy.world -3 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Can't even tell wtf I'm looking at. Terrible meme

[–] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

Git gud at mémé understandment, pleb.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You could have googled it in less words

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What words would someone search if they had no idea what was in the image?

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

https://www.google.com/search?q=metal+squares+on+car+wheel

“metal squares on car wheel” does it right away.

Defenition of a skill issue.

[–] beefcat@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

They didn't know what it was, that isn't a skill issue, just good old fashioned ignorance.

Meanwhile, you failed to spell "definition" correctly, which is a skill issue.

[–] orphiebaby@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I disagree with them about it being terrible too; but I think it's an issue of ignorance, not skill. I didn't know what it was either, but thankfully the kind people up at the top comments answered an asker! ^^
