!switch_to_linux@lemmy.ml (just kidding)

well I don't trust very much betterbird, thunderbird is a solid long going project.

Tried both, since the latest big thunderbird update there isn't much difference.

I reverted to thunderbird due to the nicer icon.

But thunderbird has a worse "plz donate" start page 🤔

They need the money... Thunderbird doesn't get any funding from Mozilla any more, now that it's a separate community project. They're relying entirely on user donations to keep the project alive.

I love Firefox, but Mozilla as a company/organization is horrible

They do not need enough if they want me to provide personal data like email but do not accept addy.io

Well, this is my first time hearing Betterbird

After reading their feature table https://www.betterbird.eu/#featuretable I think they have a really laudable goal.

I'd suggest to check the feature table first. If there is anything you concern, you pick Betterbird. Otherwise, you can choose one randomly :)

I tried Betterbird but didnt note a difference for my use. Went back to Thunderbird due to auto update vs manually downloading and installing.

You can install both side by side so you can try them both.

Betterbird doesn't actually innovate. Of all the features that BB has restored, no one really needs them.
