I would go with a Practice Discussion for all FPs a Quali Discussion and a Race Discussion.
I like this approach, often I am watching FP3 by the time qualifying is happening and I'd hate to have a spoiler because I'm a little behind.
With the current amount of users I would think a single weekend post is enough. But I also understand others' views. Personally I'm open to anything.
That’s actually a good point. I’m sure a lot of us are used to the user count on the f1 subreddit. Breaking the race into individual components might splinter the discussion too much with how few people there are here right now. Someone suggested threads for practice, quali, and race and I think that would work well.
A single post would be good. Also a single post with no spoilers in titles. It’s rough trying to avoid any media/social media on race weekends so I don’t see who won quali and race.
I know that it’s pretty popular to share the winner of a race day in a new post in congratulations. I can dream though.
Keeping FP1, FP2, FP3, Quali and Race in separate posts would make most sense for me. That way I would have less risks of spoilers. I'm always worried about spoilers since due to time zones and life constraints I usually watch F1 after everyone.
No spoilers in thread titles would be a nice touch. On Reddit I actually avoided r/F1 until post race Monday.
But whatever works for everyone.
Seconding the desire for no spoilers in thread titles. I would avoid all of reddit before watching a race due to the tons of spoiler main title posts in the F1 subreddit. My GF also has voiced the same issue.
A subreddit that does racing well is the velo subreddit for bicycle racing for a quick reference. On the velo subreddit I could comfortably go there when a race was over to check the pre race thread to check the stage and even click into that thread and see if anything important happened leading into the race before watching and then joining the post race thread.
On a separate note I like having the meme F1 posts unrestricted but mostly separate from the main F1 channel. I like the split of the dank posting and love that community on Reddit so hopefully someone makes and manages that community too.
There is a formuladank here although pretty small atm.
I think separate threads makes sense even with the current community size. Mostly because they are different things. To me it just makes sense to have practice to be discussed in practice threads, qualy to be discussed in qualy threads. Maybe we don't neeeed a post qualy thread, and then the race and post race threads.
There's not a lot of activity here yet. I think that a single post for each whole race weekend would be plenty for now. Hopefully, at some point this place will be so crowded that we need more discussion posts. I'm looking forward to that day. 😄
I think one post for practice (all of them combined), and one for quali and the race each would be good. Something I'd like this community to avoid that's common on the subreddit is multiple posts for the same thing with virtually the same discussions.
For example there's a post with the top 3 in quali/race, then there's a post with the full classification order. These posts could be considered the same.
Along the same vein, it might be a good idea to avoid posts that could be comments in another threads. For example posts outlining who's out in Q1 or Q2 could just be stickied comments in quali threads, and given there's no limit to how many comments can be on a comments, discussion can remain just as detailed without crowding the feed.

I like this idea, helps consolidate everything in one place
I like to start on a Friday with some beers for free practice, then start ramping up the edibles for quali, maybe a little bump of kanna.
Race day is anything goes. Maybe some gin, with a little weed, more kanna.
I like to experience the race in another dimension so I can watch the highlights on channel 4 (UK) and it all to be fresh and awesome on a Monday
Capeesh?
Or have I misunderstood
I think you've been smoking too much Bernie! 🤔😂
Never! Just keep going until you reach the other side 😎😂
Probably a practice/qualyfing, race and post race post. Prob to start a template
