Get a carbon monoxide monitor for your house.
When my face gets sweaty, my glasses will sometimes slip off without me feeling it which usually means I don't catch them before they hit the floor. I could see someone pulling something out of the oven in a rush and not noticing that their glasses came off. Particularly if there was a bunch of steam or smoke and they closed their eyes.
Just put them in a bag of rice, they'll be good as new.
