Welcome to c/PlantSwap @ Mander.xyz!
In this community, plant enthusiasts worldwide can swap plants and accessories.
Notice Board
This is a work in progress, please don't mind the mess.
Guidance
- Items Permitted to Swap: Plants, cuttings, seeds, crafts, and garden and plant accessories of all kinds.
- Sales Posts: Limited sales posts allowed; no shop spam.
- Gratitude: Use the review thread for thanks, no separate posts.
How to Post
- Specify your country and/or region in your post title in brackets, e.g.: [Canada] or [Chocó] or [Malaysian Borneo].
- [Have]: What you're offering.
- [Want]: What you're seeking.
- Details: Include clear descriptions and images.
- Responsibility: If your plant is known to be invasive in some regions or climates, note this in your post.
Trade Lists
- If you have a list of several plants that you want or are offering to trade, post your list as a comment in the featured thread and keep it updated. Alternatively, link to your list that you keep updated elsewhere. (External lists must not be hidden behind javascript or floating banners. Suspicious links will be removed.)
- If you have high-value plants available that you would like to trade only for the high-priority plants on your "Want" list, one way to clearly indicate this is to separate your lists into tiers (e.g. something like this).

Shipping Advice
- Plant Health: Check for pests and disease before swapping.
- Pay attention to the weather. Make sure to prepare for cold or heat waves. Ice packs and hand warmer packets can be used when packaged appropriately.
- Old Tupperware is very versatile and useful for shipping with wet paper towels.
- Some seeds have a short viability, so it makes sense to ship them in slightly moist growth medium (such as sand or coconut coir) so that they sprout rather than die in transit.
General Community Rules
- Don't throw mud. Be kind and remember the human.
- Keep it rooted (on topic).

This is an excellent idea, much needed and long overdue! If this takes off, then it'll be an important part of a sustainable future (along with the transportation technology to make the swaps possible, of course.)
It's not clear from looking at the site whether this is for exchanging seeds too. Seeds are much easier to transport, so it makes sense to also include listings for seeds. I recommend asking people to indicate what time year their seeds are available, as many seeds have a short viability.
Another important inclusion would be information about transporting seeds and plants long distances. That could include guides on how to prepare and pack them as well as information about seed-/plant-friendly transportation services in various parts of the world. I think that people who offer such a service (and can provide proof of it) should be allowed to make a listing for their service as well.
There's a lot of potential here! If you like these ideas, I'll gladly discuss further over DMs. :)
While seeds were not my main focus, they can absolutely be traded as well! Since I live in Switzerland and the platform is tailored to our circumstances, long-distance transport is not really a concern and I met all the people in person to trade plants. This also has the benefit of getting to know like-minded people, which could help build an offline community.
But yes, I'll add seeds as a category to enable filtering for it, it surely won't hurt!
Great! Do you still intend to expand to other parts of Europe?
