Hello everyone. I apologize for the rollercoaster ride in this community over the past week and a half. I have one more change to announce: @THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today has been removed as the community moderator. This is in response to multiple private complaints from community members, as well as behaviors inside and outside this community that were brought to the admin team’s attention.

I made the mistake of shortcutting the usual lemmy.world processes when I appointed the user as the new mod. If anyone would like to volunteer to become the new community moderator, you can email info@mastodon.world and make a request. The lemmy.world community team will follow their process from there.

Again, I apologize for all the rapid changes.

I have never come across a community that had so many moderator posts. I also have never come across a moderator who liked the sound of their own voice so much.

Glad they are gone.

Hopefully there will be some actual content in here going forward to replace the drama.

I couldn't put it better. Every time I saw a post from them here, I always thought, "again!?!?".

[-] seang96@spgrn.com 8 points 5 months ago

That's what I thought seeing this post lol

If not already done, I’d ask that @Blaze@reddthat.com be unbanned.

[-] kersploosh@lemmy.world 21 points 5 months ago

Yes, Blaze has been unbanned from the community.

Thank you so much!

The previous mod mentioned "spamming", while the real reason was probably describing their erratic moderation behaviour, especially removing threads where people disagreed with them

Thank you very much for your prompt and transparent action!

At this point, is there any chance of restoring the lost poll and poll discussion threads in some form?

Though I can understand the poster's reasons for wanting the threads erased, it would be a shame if they were lost entirely into the digital aether. The threads contained some useful discussion from community members which could help shape the future direction of this community.

If anyone would like to volunteer to become the new community moderator, you can email info@mastodon.world and make a request.

I could tentatively volunteer, though I am already stretched a bit thin with other communities, and would not have as much time to devote to this community as the previous mod. Should I still apply?

Might I also nominate @Blaze@reddthat.com, @silas@programming.dev, and @brickfrog@lemmy.dbzer0.com? All are fairly active lemmings who contributed to thoughtful discussion in the aforementioned threads. Perhaps we could serve as interim moderators until someone better is found.

At this point I think I'll leave those posts deleted. OP changed the post titles before deleting, then subsequently deleted their account and all comments, so the discussions in those posts are full of holes.

[-] scytale@lemm.ee 8 points 5 months ago

Well that was quick. lmao

[-] deweydecibel@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

Wait, what happened? Did they do anything other than just post a lot? Thought it was a little annoying but not anything worth removing them over.

[-] SorteKanin@feddit.dk 2 points 5 months ago

Apparently banned people who disagreed with them and generally abused their mod power to drive their agenda rather than simply securing the rules of the community.

[-] elbarto777@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Are you going to unban the users this individual banned for being whistleblowers?

[-] kersploosh@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

I only see Blaze in the modlog, and that user has been unbanned. If you are aware of other users that are somehow not in the modlog then let me know.

[-] elbarto777@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Not at the moment. And thanks!

Oh, don't mention it!
