I accidentally blocked a user while I was on his profile page, but I can't unblock him. Despite that user being blocked right now, the "Block user" button remains active and with its original function.

Go to settings, inside the "Blocks" tab, click the "x" button on the right of of the blocked user name under the "Blocked users" settings.

Try if this works

It worked. Thank you.

Just a note for the developers in case they come across this post: Maybe the "Block user" button in the user profile page should change to "Unblock user" once the user has been blocked.

edit: I am using the web version.

No problem. Usually on the web version, lemmy-ui, it should display "unblock user" button if you blocked someone. Never tried on Jerboa.

If you want to open an issue, you can open one in Jerboa's repository if you encountered on Jerboa app, or lemmy-ui's repository for website version

In Jerboa the block button still says block after you block a community. I assume it's the same for users.

If it were definitely a bug I would open an issue there, but since it's an improvement that will probably only make a difference for a few people, I prefer not to comment anything on GitHub because they are probably already overloaded with improvement suggestions in other parts of the software.

Piggy backing on this, and I know it's probably not high on the to do list, considering... But can we get some "not interested" option for communities? I've been blocking communities because I'm not interested, and they're clogging up the all feed (not really enough in my subbed feed to keep things going). But I don't necessarily want to block a community all the time. There are things I might want to seek out from time to time, but don't necessarily want showing me all their new posts, either.

I have also been blocking communities that I'm not interested in. I'm starting to notice that the blocking feature doesn't work well with a large blocklist. I've got 2135 communities blocked already.

I don't think this will scale well at all.

It's all the news, politics, anime, reddit-clones, etc. And each instance just has to have freaking showerthoughts, til, asklemmy, and all of the other generic subs for some reason.

I know, I'm just impressed more than anything
