Did somebody tried it out already? How’s it like?

I’m using it currently. Quite frankly, it’s a buggy mess. I wouldn’t try it unless you are VERY tolerant of UI bugs and in some cases worse. Lots of issues with the keyboard not popping up, or like in Messages, the current message you’re typing will be hidden behind the keyboard so you need to close and open messages, and you’ll be doing this a lot. Lots of issues with Safari and PWA interactions too. Voyager for Lemmy has become unusable because the pop up menu for selecting functions like replying won’t stay open. Though this issue might be fixed in Beta 2 as I’ve had less issues with it.

There’s also a very aggravating issue with your “my card” in contacts. Every few days, random pieces of information are deleted from my card. Sometimes it’s my profile picture, my home and work addresses, phone number etc.

The new features introduced in Ios 17 are great, chief among them being an actually usable autocorrect, but I’d steer clear of the public beta unless you’re down for a little daily frustration.

I'm not seeing that in the iPadOS Public Beta - is this on iOS?

Yeah IOS. Happening to everyone I know who did the update.

I've actually had the exact opposite experience. My contact has been all sorts of buggy for years and the new Contact Card has been rock solid for me. Always interesting seeing the variations of bugs in beta/prod

Working fine on my iPhone and iPad. Keyboard bug fixed finally. NameDrop is overhyped, but hey I rarely meet new people.

It's a way to share your contact information with other iPhones. Similar to AirDrop but you can setup what gets shared and how their phone saves your contact info.

Not especially good or bad, comparable to iOS 16, tbh

Been pretty stable for me - running the AirPods beta for the adaptive audio too and works well.

Can one get the beta without a MacOS computer? I can’t seem to get to it on my phone and all I got around are Dells

Think you do need something running MacOS sadly
