Lol there's always a catch. They're the ad network that uses personal data into personalized results.

[-] Rooki@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

Are you sure.... that they delete it? Are you sure that a data greedy search engine and company does it? Or just hide it for ur view?

[-] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Lawsuits have shown evidence that they do in fact keep it. And use it.

So how does Google know my address? I don't have it in my Google profile.

So Google will add a new form to my profile where I can enter all the information I want to be notified about? Full address, all my phone numbers, just to be sure my credit card number, ...

And this will totally not be used for other purposes.

If you have ever looked at Google maps they know your address and know where you work, where you shop and I'd guess every search you have ever done on Google.

I might be paranoid but I think of Google as a branch of the US gov like the cia, fbi etc. My thinking is mainly on Google existing straight after they claimed to stop the echelon survelience.

How thoughtful!

The torturer has kindly provided safety glasses to avoid blood getting in your eyes while they work on you.

Now they've promised to use a new drillhead for every new victim instead of just replacing it when it breaks.

Finally! I've been asking for that for months!

To protect us from Google? Because this is what we need..

[-] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 year ago

No. To protect our personal data from anyone else besides Google, obviously.

Seeing as their motto now is "Do All the Evil" I'm betting they will only be protecting themselves.

Is there group that actually discusses technology, or is bitching about Twitter, Reddit, and Google all there is on Lemmy?

Mods seem to allow any content. Would be nice to see a tech community that wasn't a gossip column about billionaires

[-] gelberhut@lemdro.id 1 points 1 year ago

This is a good question. Reading this community I have a feeling, that it is mostly a "hate big tech, does not matter what". But if you find one a "true" technology one - please let me know.

The same company that just proposed a spec to force you to use specific software to browse the web in order to prevent you from using ad blockers?

... yeah right, and I got a bridge NFT to sell you.
