It's TikTok that made the kids say 'unalive' these days, right?

What's fascinating about algo censorship is people don't know what words will trip the censor. The rules are hidden and opaque, people can only guess.

I also don't like it because it whitewashes the awful subjects they refer to. I'm more than fine with a trigger warning; absolutely warn people if you are going to talk about traumatizing material that they much rather avoid. I feel that is basic decency to do that. However, I think sanitizing your language in regards to rape, suicide, murder, racism and so on diminishes the nastiness of it. If you aren't having the same visceral reaction to the abbreviated term "SA" as you have to "rape" then that's a problem. You should feel gross and repulsed by it. And for me, "SA" feels sanitary and clinical and abstract even as someone who has experienced sexual assault. Just abbreviating it does that much less replacing rape with that abbreviation. I don't like that at all. That's in addition to the full on censorship. Why stop content that discusses these topics from being discussed in all seriousness? In my opinion it all ends up contributing to rape culture and bullying because you can't talk about it and even if you do it must be in a way that strips it of all it's ugliness so the advertisers are happy.
