I'm not sure I love the name either, but I sorta get it. It's like subscribing to a print magazine. A magazine generally has articles and content about a specific topic. So it's about referring to the content of the "magazine" as opposed to the subscribers to it.

@V699 kbin comes from carabin(sp?) which is the Polish word for carbine (a type of gun)
