/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Sounds like someone's lost their faith... faith of the heart.

Man I really don’t get the hate for the intro, but I’m also biased. Started watching Enterprise after my kid was born, somewhere probably around 2 or 3. Anyway, putting him down for a nap was tough cause he had lots of energy, but if I just put on an episode of Enterprise he’d be out. Something about the intro just calmed him down and knocked him out almost immediately.

It's an acquired taste. I think most people who enjoy ENT do end up liking the intro, but even then sometimes you do want to skip it. I also normally skip the "upbeat" into that they introduced later.

It’s not a bad song or anything, I just don’t like it at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Something about the intro knocked him out almost immediately.

It has the same effect on me.

OG intro is great though.

First season or two? Yes. Then it grows on you.

The second version is definitely worse, I don’t think that’s a controversial statement.

so you're saying ..it's a long road....to the remote

Skip Intro is the only thing that got me most of the way through Enterprise

[–] unlawfulbooger@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Same, it’s just too American for my tastes

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

That’s the thing, it’s supposed to be Wild West in space. I always thought it fit perfectly.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

The entire premise of Enterprise was that it was Humanity's first foray into space outside our little backyard. The first Warp 5 engine gave Humanity the means to truly begin exploring.

The entire intro is about the journey and faith in that exploration. Going through Humanity's history of exploration, through every Enterprise until you get to the NX-01.

I love the orchestral intros just as much as everyone else, but that's just not the tone of ENT. It's a perfect intro for what the show was.

What's funny is that it was written by Rod Stewart, a Brit.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It was written by Diane Warren and only sung by Rod Stewart for "Patch Adams," the film for which the song was originally written.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Huh. Google lied to me. Go figure.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Don't you ever scare me like that again

Well, how am I to know that this:

I’m in the minority I guess then.
