Amazing. Human art is becoming so advanced, pretty soon they'll be taking AI jobs.

I love this piece. The palette is so earthy, yet the subject matter so synthetic. It's a beautiful juxtaposition.

Trying to source this image, looks like it's called The Night Train by Cesar Díaz Ayres.

[-] propter_hog@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

The earliest reference to this piece that I can find is from a few days ago on Facebook. No other more "official" source than that, unfortunately.

[-] RNAi@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

I found a source that says it's AI unfortunately

Stole it from facebook, yeah

[-] context@hexbear.net 13 points 3 months ago

omg it's like brutalist impressionism

Spatulinism stalin-spoonstalin-gun-2

I think what impresses me the most about this is the way that you can tell that it is raining in this painting.

The way the light is reflecting above the roof of the train, it is the same as the way the light catches the rain when it is bouncing off the rooftop of a train at night. That's some damn good impressionism.

And the lights of the city reflecting in the water on the ground

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

It wasn't made by a machine, it was made by several humans that the machine was programmed to steal from

[-] iie@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago

I absolutely would have bet AI

[-] RNAi@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

The place I stole it from said it was real but didn't mention author

You were sadly right apparently

[-] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Beautiful. Takes a lot of confidence to paint that way with spatulas.

[-] ProletarianDictator@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Love this style. Cool that they use the buildup of excess paint at the end of a brushstroke to draw features

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Not just features but highlights too, there's some really incredible lighting being created using very clever texture for highlights.

[-] propter_hog@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

A masterclass in the usage of shading, to be sure. The rails are created simply with the ridges of the paint casting a shadow.

[-] Barabas@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

This is likely impasto done with palette knives judging from the texture. You can get a lot of neat textures in paintings that way.

[-] RNAi@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

It's AI sadly, sorry for not checking enough

[-] Torenico@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

A FUCKING TRAIN LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO CHOO CHOOO LET US RUN OVER THE CAPITALISTS WITH OUR BEAUTIFUL тепловоз узкоколейный тип 4 «четвёртый» DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE

[-] jaywalker@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

My partner paints a lot and she could tell it was AI just by zooming in on the strokes, but said that when it's zoomed out it's pretty much impossible to tell

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 months ago

its beautiful

[-] kleeon@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

It's actually really interesting how no one in the comments could tell that this image was computer generated. What does the future of art look like when something like this can be automated?

[-] RNAi@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

I had serious doubts when looking ag the point of fuge, seemed imposible to make with spatula, but since I'm no painter AND the place I stole it from said it was made by a person,
