I think it's the other way around. The parent said that they too were gonna take a nap so the toddler would.
You're halfway there. The parent pretended to nap with the kid, but when they fell asleep they went and cleaned up.
I just slept when the kid slept when they were that young. It was great with a nap during the day when you only get 4 hours of sleep during the night.
