No, you could use a google voice number for privacy though (except from Google), or any other service like Skype which provides you with a phone number (but you may have to pay for it)

I've been using one called "TextNow." I tried other ones, including google voice, that didn't work. But this one has worked. You do need to use it to keep your number though. I have a reminder set to text from the second number every two weeks (the reset period is 30 days). You can pay to bypass this, but... nah...
have you tried telegraham though? you can make s'mores with it yummmmy
