Bazsalanszky:

Hello everyone!

I've just released the first version of Eternity (after changing the name from Infinity for Lemmy). It's been long overdue, but I wanted to finish a few features before this update. This release includes various fixes and new features, such as:

  • Blocking users/communities

  • List blocked users/communities

  • Separate up/down votes (can be disabled in the settings)

  • Private messages

  • Content reporting

  • New themes (including a new default one!)

  • Fixed various crashes.

And a huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback, translated the app, or contributed in any form during the testing phases of this release. Your insights and suggestions were invaluable in making Eternity better for all users. I'll continue to gather feedback and make improvements in the coming updates, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any further thoughts or issues you might encounter. Your support and engagement mean the world to me! Happy browsing!

Is there a plan to get it on Play Store? I know it's available on Codeberg and Izzy, but getting it on Play Store will inevitably increase its popularity.

You are right. I think it's time to release it on Google play. I also want to focus on getting the app into the main F-Droid repo as well.

Seriously this is probably the only Lemmy app that isn't. I don't understand why.

Used infinity for reddit for years. Tried all the Lemmy apps and liked many of them, but this immediately felt like home again. Thanks for all of the work

I think a large part was:

  • it's a fork of infinity so it will likely diverge in looks/functionally

  • it's a different developer than Infinity

Just want you to know that as of this update, this is my favorite lemmy app and will now be the main one I use

I didn't know a project like Obtainium existed! Thank you!

I wonder will the name change cause less people to discover the app.

I can't sideload, but looking forward to trying the Play Store release eventually!

Commenting from infinity which I installed from izzyondroid. When will eternity be available there? I checked but couldn't find it

I think the IzzyOnDroid repo is updated once a day at 6 PM UTC.

Does this use a Reddit -> Lemmy API adapter or proxy or was the API interaction all rewritten from Reddit to Lemmy?

I'm really enjoying how customizable the themes are in this app!

Is anyone able to actually sign in to their Lemmy account with this app? I just updated in the hopes that I'd be able to, but I still get a "failed to fetch user info" message.

Works for me. Instance issue perhaps?
