I found a lump in my neck (superclavicular lymph node) in April. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in late June. 9 months later, more than 70 medical appointments and treatments, an ultrasound, two chest x-rays, a CT scan, an echo cardiogram, a respiratory study, and two PET scans, plus two courses of clot busters and a bunch of prescription medicines and the only thing I've paid for out of pocket is parking and the hospital where I have my treatments just put in free parking for cancer patients.

But, of course, I live in a civilized country where health isn't seen as a source of profit.

Single payer healthcare is so complex that only 22 of the 23 most developed countries in the world have managed to do it.

The US medical system is grotesque.

That old "no way to prevent this" Onion article about school shootings can also apply to health care. What a fucking joke our country is.

Oh, but don't worry. I watched the election build up this year. Our new president has "concepts of a plan".

rolls eyes

They aren't even PRETENDING to know what they're doing anymore....

The great scam. You can retire and live a decent life, just so long as you don't plan on growing old and needing medical care.

Oh, that's part of retirement? Weird how Noone thought of that problem this whole time.

Oh they thought about it. Yeah. Definitely. They absolutely thought about how much money they could make off of our nations sick and elderly.

And if they can't pay? Fuck em! Let em die!

Their words, not mine.

I think people forget the Republicans had a portion of the health care plan back in the Romney days that was just:
Body collection services for when people died on the streets.

They have been building up to not giving a shit about anyone else but the rich for some time now. We should stop caring about them as the masses and stop supplementing their lifestyle.

Look you just need to work your ass off every single day. And yes that means even if you're sick. Don't care or worry about having any hobbies or activities that are worth while. For you may be able to spent once per two weeks on it. Anyway, Once you're around 80 THEN you're supposed to do the things you like, alright?! Is that so unreasonable??

P.S. Oh the thing you love to do requires you to be flexible and active? Well why didn't you do that when you were young?

Everyone calm down! President Trump said he was going "solve healthcare" and that it's going to be "the best healthcare". That was like checks notes nine years ago. He's going to deliver on that any day now.

I just know it won't be so complicated. I mean who could know such a thing?

If you get cancer in the US it is better to die then seek treatment and push your family into poverty.

I would prefer to die rather than going back to work nowadays at that age.

if you can go back to work.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

If they can go back to work, they were obviously faking it. Claim denied!
