Wasn’t that the act to bring chip manufacturing jobs and security back to us soil?

That was the last government. This one just wants to steal everything that isn't nailed down and do as much damage as possible in the meantime.

That’s wrong. They also want to steal everything that’s nailed down. That’s why they have DOGE running around collecting the nails.

The whole thing was an utter failure even before Trump got in the office. It was a hare brained scheme, and it failed spectacularly.

Welp that's great. I'll probably be out of a job soon at this rate.

They're gonna step on the wrong big money.

we're going to find out over the next few years whether the capitalists who enabled the fascists can actually control them.

Again, unconstitutional (and oddly, it's a bipartisan law and would hurt some GOP congressmen). I get the sense the current Congress wants a repeal it, though, and this let's them not take heat over it. It's also faster and direct than having Congress do anything about it, ignoring red tape and proper procedure and filibusters. Even without Musk and Trump illegality, CHIPS was probably doomed with a trifecta GOP Congress.

The only silver lining is that USAID and CHIPS can be tried again under another administration (assuming we have another election), probably without Congressional approval since it was never undone properly in the first place. But that's nothing given just how many people are going to die in 4 years because of all this stupidity.
