Drinking European soda instead of American soda is good. Drinking plain water instead of sugar water is better.

Noone says you need to drink it all the time. It's ok to drink soda as a treat. Upvote for a fellow hydrohomie though.

This is my thought on pretty much half the stuff in this community.

Like great, lets switch from a useless consumerist product from an unethical US for profit corpo to a usless consumerist product from an unethical european for profit Corpo.

Why not aim higher? Switch to mostly non-profit or atleast B-corps. Instead of supporting disney and stuff through a proxy of a higher priced european streaming service, why not pirate and say fuck the monetisation of culture by billionaires?

I was more thinking of the health effects but your points are good too.

I have about ten reasons for not drinking coke

[โ€“] Comtief@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

I mean, if you are consuming it, apparently it's for you, even if it's through pirating.

People will keep buying. It would be better if they didn't, but if they did, at least they shouldn't buy from the enemy.

Let's not become purist as that will benefit the enemy.

I tried Orangina for the first time visiting France last year. Good stuff.

It has less sugar too than soda is here in the states. I liked each one almost categorically better.

It was better in the 90s but it is still pretty good.

Orangina was the absolute best cure for my hangovers when I lived in Paris. I'd for that whole 2Lt bottle lmao in like a minute. It's not super sweet either.

Fritz Kola ist the absolute goat of sodas at the moment. Seriously, their flavour is just pure perfection ๐Ÿ‘Œ

[โ€“] Comtief@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

But why are they so expensive tho

[โ€“] kepix@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

hell is a hungarian brand, the ceo is a gangster and is pretty close to the hungarian mafia and fidesz party. he also threatened forbes for showing him as one of the wealthiest people in the country.

This thread really makes me miss Italian orange soda. There (and also Spain I think) they're way more tart than most of the rest of EU, UK, USA.

[โ€“] atro_city@fedia.io 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't drink soda, mostly water or local and imported juices. What are these brands? Where are they from?

[โ€“] XM34@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Orangina is sold and owned by the Japanese giant Suntory. I don't know anything about the rest.

[โ€“] eluxzen@waag.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

@XM34 @atro_city true, I have looked it up, it was in 2000 almost bought by Coca Cola. Then CadburrySchweppes bought it and now it's Suntory. Great so Orangina is still an option (and imho better than Fanta)

As an American Iโ€™d kill to still get Orangina here. Itโ€™s like the best fruit soda ever made and nothing in the US compares.
