Is there a European alternative to Apple FindMy or GoogleMaps location tracking that allows you to share your location with each other?

I would be very grateful for any tips.

Just a heads-up: you marked your post “Deutsch” so only the users who have selected “Deutsch” in their account settings can see your post.

There are plenty selfhosted alternatives, where your location-data can be stored and shared on/from your own hardware, like Hauk: https://github.com/bilde2910/Hauk .

Some things Apple FindMy does was solved by KDE Connect for me. Not sure about a Location Sharing service.

Element (Matrix) supports location sharing.

I run Home Assistant in my house and it tracks my location and my wife's.

Besides that one can use Telegram but the opinion of Telegram changes more than the weather.

Russian-owned, with no end-to-end encryption by default.

Owned by Russian dissidents who have long since left Russia. Most of the data centers are in the Netherlands, near the AMS-IX.

It's true that you'd have to start a secret chat in order to be end-to-end encrypted and this is a huge design flaw.

and by the CEO, who despite his supposed exile somehow kept flying in and out of Russia multiple times over the years
