What I said in the title. This is the first Lemmy app that gives me Apollo vibes when I use it. The new themes are just chef’s kiss. Phenomenal work! It’s not Apollo yet, but this is the app that gets me thinking that Lemmy could be a long term thing for me. Well done!!

Agreed! Thanks to all who are putting in the work to build this for us.

I never used Appolo, but I did use a bunch of Lemmy apps for iOS over the past couple of weeks. There are some seriously well-crafted ones but they are missing some key features; and some pretty comprehensive ones that were clearly put together a bit fast. Which is very fine, the community is exploding now, and app efforts have prioritized either quality or feature coverage first. Once they all move further along, I can see how they all have potential to be really solid.

But I think Memmy here is the only one at this point in time that has both solid coverage and solid quality. Of course there are still things to be done, but it’s already very very usable, and for basically everything an end user would want to do day-to-day, I think. The progress here is really impressive. 👏👏👏

Hoping to get OLED black mode and top hour, 6 hours, and 12 hours soon. Looking great so far.

Share screenshots of Memmy on the Apollo subreddit saying how fast it's being developed and how heavily inspired by Apollo it is.

This and Sync for Lemmy can get tons of users if people spread the word.

It's not even available on Google Play app store yet. Giving the Reddit community an impression of further hurdles they need to jump in order to transition to the Fediverse would probably give them even more confirmation bias on their view that it is "too messy" to become the next Reddit.

On a side note, Jerboa in "List" mode is starting to feel like Relay for Reddit, all I miss is the option for thumbnails on the left, and default auto-collapsed view of deep comment hierarchies (with visual color guidance of which level a given expanded comment is at) to avoid scrolling for the next top level comment.

Most people on those subs are familiar with how apps work; you'd just need to mention that it's in development and will be in the appstore later.

This is the only time this will work. Alot of people will move on to the official app after the good ones are actually gone.

Posted about Lemmy in r/redditsync and it was mostly postively received. Would do the same in r/Apollo for Memmy if I was on iOS cuz people there are even more pissed about it shutting down.

Yep agreed! Once they add post editing and a text size slider Memmy will be exactly the way I want it

Yes, excellent app so far. I would gladly pay for it.

My only wishes so far are the option to swipe to a subscription list (instead of clicking the star) and a full screen swipe. Apollo offered this by disabling upvote and downvote button swipes…it’s so much easier to do on bigger phones and a great “comfortable” feature for an app to feel convenient and intuitive to use.

Rather than a full screen swipe I would appreciate the ability to swipe on the bottom nav bar. Apollo had that option. Ideally a setting for both options would be best!

It’s really good! Coming from an Apollo, Sync (Android), Slide (Android), and Relay (Android) user.

I swear that the dev is snorting Adderall every four minutes and releasing an update every six. Can’t believe how much work they’re doing. Amazing work being done, in a few months we’ll have something that’ll rival Apollo of old

Totally agree, at the time of the API announcement I was hoping the Apollo Dev would shift focus to the Fediverse, he seemed reluctant to do it, which is a shame because it could have ultimately shifted way more users to Lemmy.

But I have to say, I’m really impressed with the dev support for Lemmy and all these third party clients, and I’m actually partially intimidated by how quickly the Memmy devs is getting updates out and how polished it is, the team deserves full credit, pretty astonishing really.
