It was fine. I’ve seen all the shows so I get the backstory and references.

That being said, there are just too many Star Wars and movie cliches to be bearable:

Oh wow she cut her hair dramatically, she’s such a rebel and such a badass. (Cheap and overused character moment)

Staring pathetically at a spaceship flying away after a lightsaber duel (has happened four thousand times in Star Wars)

“Get ready!”

Lightsabers are harmless

Fixing a bomb under a ticking time clock (false peril)

Ancient artifact leads to the location of a place or character in the present (another cliche and cheap writing)

Another star map mcguffin (overused cliche)

The super rich are usually highly educated but they live in such a homogenous bubble that they’re opinions on the majority of society should be entirely discounted. They usually have a total lack of empathy for people and vote for politicians with the same attitude. I have met some super rich people who try very hard to go against the grain and not fall into that mindset, but something about the need for protecting your money and lifestyle usually promotes an untrustworthy and skeptical view of everyone in their lives including their own family.

It’s rich kids living off of daddy’s money i.e. trust fund babies (trust funds are their own separate thing but you can look that up). It’s not like these people were working as a food server then one day decided to travel the world and make videos about it. They needed a nice financial cushion in order to do that. There are exceptions, but it takes a lot of capital to start your own brand, promote it, pay for the traveling expenses, and somehow get a return.

It’s not bizarre at all, it’s typical attitudes of conservative bull-headed contrarian trolls like always.

I’m fine with them, except for this one

The app worked, you got to know her true colors rather quickly. Imagine putting up with passive aggressive shit like that your whole life, or even for a night.

We used to call these people patronizing but it got gendered for some reason

Imagine if trains were nice in the US. Riding Amtrack feels like riding in a 20 year old Pepsi can

In a recent thread asking for top five movies, my comment was added to another user’s post but weirdly they’re comment was VERY similar to mine. Then my exact same comment was added to ANOTHER user’s post. I’m now sure if this is an issue with the Memmy app or Lemmy I general, but the fact that my original comment was confused with another very similar comment is pretty sus. Why would this happen? Is it a coincidence?

The first original site-wide Lemmy meme is about holding your poop. We should be proud

What I think could make Lemmy superior to Reddit is the ability to create themed-instances that are all linked together which feels like the entire point. I've noticed that a lot of instances are trying to be a catch-all Reddit replacement by imitating specific subs which is understandable given the circumstances but seems like it's not taking advantage of the full power that Lemmy could have.

Imagine for a moment that instances were more focus-based. Instead of having communities that are all mostly unrelated we had entire instances that are focused on one specific area of expertise or interest. Imagine a LOTR instance that had many sub-communities (in this case "communities" would be the wrong way to look at it, it would be more like categories) that dealt with different subjects in the LOTR universe: books, movies, lore, gaming, art, etc all in the same instance.

Imagine the types of instances that could be created with more granular categories within to better guide conversations: Baseball, Cars, Comics, Movies, Tech etc.

A tech instance could have dedicated communities for news, programming, dev, IT, Microsoft, Apple, iOS, linux. Or you could make it even more granular by having a dedicated instance for each of those because there's so many categories that could be applied to each.

What are your thoughts?

Discuss. Does it look kinda cheap to anyone else or am I going crazy?

Well this is a no brainer, I wasn't super happy with BoBF (as Im sure a lot of other people weren't either) and Im sure that LFL knows that it was a rush job. I think Boba Fest works best in the shadows off camera and popping in from time to time for awesome appearances, he just doesn't have main character traits at all. It would have been nice to see him go bounty hunting rather than become a new crime lord. It would have been perfect for the episodic format. Instead we got snotty teenager and half built sets.

Star Wars: Racer - I know every track by heart at this point, have it on my Switch and still play quite a bit. Amazing flow state game.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 - absolute classic and the nostalgia I get from playing is unmatched

Age of Empires 2 - the music is just muah

KotoR - Best Star Wars game ever made next to Dark Forces 2 and Jedi Outcast

Please read the sidebar, I have no idea how to moderate or even how it works on Lemmy but willing to figure it out unless it becomes too much work in which case I will need some help. Anyway, just helping to build out Lemmy.world a bit more. If the community grows I think it would be fun to create our own instance with tons of sub communities: Legends Books, Canon books, games, movies, tv etc. For now all discussion will happen here. Just a reminder that it would be better to post memes in the Star Wars memes community instead of here, ideally this would become more of a place for discussions, reviews, and hype.
