The Night of the Hunter is a 1955 American thriller film directed by Charles Laughton and starring Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters and Lillian Gish. The screenplay by James Agee was based on the 1953 novel of the same name by Davis Grubb.

This never clicked for me for whatever reason and it’s been too long since I’ve seen it to recall why. Good photography and performances, but iirc the ending goes off on a bit much of a fever dream for my tastes at the time I saw it.
