I'm staring at the description in the posting, my resume and a writeup of my current job description like.

Why shouldn't I have it rewrite my existing boilerplate resume with elements from the posting which are relevant to my work experience?

You should. It's resourceful. Or at least give you a nice draft you can proofread. They are all using AI to scan your resume and paying 3rd party cloud which pays other iterative 3rd party cloud services.

If you use Gramerly it's also using a type of AI. If you use suggested phrases in Outlook it's using an AI.

It's literally the perfect use case for LLMs. Remove or lessen the effort required for capitalist busy work that is forced on us for no benefit.

The recruiter/hiring manager is just going to stick it in whatever western llm their employer is subscribed to anyways. And with DeepSeek (or if STEM might want to try the new open llm MiMo XiaoMi released which was trained specifically for better maths/coding results than any other) running locally, probably takes less power than, for instance, gaming or other computer tasks.

Clerical work is like the one thing these are actually good for.

My rule is to respond to bullshit with bullshit. You ask me to fill out needless bureaucracy, I point ChatGPT/Copilot at it

Everyone else is, and the people "reading" job applications are using chatGPT to find the "best" one, so it's a good idea to use a AI friendly format, doesn't matter if it is completely incoherent to your fellow human beings, none of them are involved in the hiring process anymore!

Seconding what another commenter said: this is a perfect use-case for an LLM
