I was half an hour late lol

The people in my team told me I was the best manager they've ever had. Put a huge smile on my face.

Because I actually cared about them and not just about myself.

An hour early for my Drs appointment, but it's better than being late πŸ˜‚

Edit: ooo she saw me early! #winning!

having to tell people off for having an ad hoc meeting right next to my desk. The looks they gave me I nearly turned around and said "Bro this isnt even your area! If your gonna sit in IT's section least you can do is be respectful and not shout at each other 2 meters from my desk!"

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

I have the same problem, especially when I'm on my break though I don't have the courage to tell people they're being too loud and disturbing me,

Holy Shit!

I never in all my born days thought this would happen. But on reflection, the article makes a good point about confluent aspirations.

There are some episodes of the QAA podcast on the crossover between the wellness industry and conspiracy theories so this doesn't feel like a massive jump.

When people are already rejecting vaccines and science it's probably easier to sell them on eugenics

Feels like the progression of the hippie > antivax > cooker > Nazi theme.

Unwell and wfh (somewhat) today, but got distracted by a house restoration show and have gone down a snoopy real estate rabbit hole

Meanwhile, the warm fluffy oodie I ordered has arrived at work, while I’m at home where it’s chilly

sigh

I haven't had a bougie bath in a very long time. Aunt's bath is really nice (resort sort of nice) so I had to tonight was a long day. Lush. Lit the candles, lights off. i'm not really into that that sort of thing but yea.. nice.

Last time I used that thing was when I chucked hambam in for a bath when he was covered in mud / fuck knows what else.

Tonight was my night though.

Man, I think I caught a bit of whatever's going around. No respiratory issues whatsoever, don't think I even have a fever but the headache came back with a vengeance and I've been so fatigued with so little appetite that I only got out of bed for the first time at 9:30 PM - yes, PM, nearly 24 hrs straight in bed - to pee (an unholy dark liquid) and eat and drink something. Feel full after a couple of bites although my stomach is making all the food noises. Managed to keep down dinner, took two Nurofen with an antacid, back in bed and I hope to HELL that I'll feel better tomorrow.

Power is out for works and that always stresses me out so badly even when it’s just a few hours. It feels like being cut off from warmth, light, and other people.

I have a solar powered lamp and some power packs but they don’t hold much charge and my phone battery drops so fast (especially when I won’t stop using it). Just waiting for things to go back to normal.

I’ve also spent the day really sick.

I’m grateful for everything I have in life. I just wish it was a bit easier.

It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon for a walk, I went down to the Mullum Mullum Creek trail. Mr Woof greatly enjoyed all the sniffs and the multiple patches of succulant grass to nibble on. He was less enthused by the mode of transportation to and from. Hopefully I can squeeze in a couple more fun trips for him before he has to go through the long trip to Ballarat.

Oh joy a car repair bill of more than the bloody thing is worth. Just what the bank account needed.

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh I’ve been there. It sucks when it’s either that or no car

Power is back on? Yes! What a relief.

I wish I had the energy to sort out more battery powered stuff and physical media for these times just to take the edge off. It’s never hugely long and not frequent but it really gets to me.

I still haven’t fixed the solar panel/car battery combo and at this point it’s unlikely I’ll be able to sort it out >.<

I am slowly working my way through the Discworld books using my Spotify audiobook hours. About halfway through the new(ish) penguin audio versions and I am starting to get the hype. My eyes get sore after a day on the computer and it's a nice way to drift off.

Polystyrene has now been disposed of, and I stopped in for some more packing materials on the way back. Oh, alright, it was actually the craft resource rescue place, and the packing materials are mostly bits of fabric etc., but close enough! I also grabbed a couple of rectangular tins with hinged lids which were some sort of promotional hair care thing, but will be great little rubbish bins for the bathrooms. I had plans for a big coffee tin, but these will work better - I might even cover them with the wallpaper I found.

Thought I’d set up my digital drivers license. Yes I’m late to the party. So I go into to vic services app, then a couple of menus later, find something that says β€˜digital licence’. Select it, it’s a link to services web page which says; to get a licence you need to get the services app. I really do not have not brain power for this government paradox loop right now, will try to figure it out tomorrow.

Got a big fat ball of anxiety in my stomach. Blehhhh!

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

(my emergency early morning anxiety goto - in case it helps.)

Blanket burrito yourself, STAT. Close eyes. What are all the noises you hear? What's the furtherest away noise? Listen. As you calm notice warmth and texture. If you can get down another notch notice breath. Can you listen, feel, breathe all together?

And the ball is legit but you have amazing strength. Reach out if you need anything practical (food, transport, etc) to get through.

Miss Meow has been evicted from Mr Woof's travel carrier, and I am about to embark on our first trial run down the road for a walk. Finger's crossed he finds it as comfy as Miss Meow does.

TV Review. The Outlaws. BBC by Stephen Merchant.

it's a really good show, just not the show I wanted to watch.

coming of age series

But not everything has to be a tense drama with ultra violence

Warmer than the fridge outside!! I might be able to forgoe the fingerless gloves and scarf for our walk this morning.

Today's main task is going to be polysyrene disposal - all the furniture I bought included a ridiculous amount of the stuff, and I haven't even opened all the boxes yet. I have a pile in the back of the van to take to the recycling centre in Bayswater, unfortunately there are no recycling options for polystyrene around Ballarat. I'll probably be able to bring another lot down after the move, as I'll have to come back to do some more garden tidying etc. anyway. I'll also have a van load of cardboard boxes to take to the tip, moving things around uses an awful lot of packaging.

This may make me sound 100 years old but I think I'm growing partial to email clients. If I look at my emails in a separate program to my browser it stops me getting lost on the internet instead of doing what I'm trying to. It also means my email tab isn't taking up all this RAM.

And I really should cut Google out of my life. That will be easier if the interface I use for emails is the same, it doesn't matter what provider I'm using.

Also, I got sick of all the ads in Gmail's Promotions section. No ads in a client.

I switched from Gmail (and Nord VPN) to using the proton suite of tools. Much happier.
