Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

So literally it was passed because of the democrats that fucking died since January

If you’re over the age of 65 and try to run for elected office you should be immediately

Edit: Accidentally left off the action verb, we’ll leave that as an exercise for the reader

Accidentally left off

I have terrible insomnia. But I don't really know how bad my insomnia is when I wake up. I have to Hexbear and then check how many mistakes I make and how fast I them.

The r/politics discourse on this is kind of funny. Their logic is that this sort of rhetoric is blaming Democrats for things the Republicans are doing (this talking point got big after people got angry at Harris for bungling the election); if the three dems hadn't died, the Republicans would've whipped more votes and passed it anyway and you're a fool to think the democratic party could ever have mounted successful opposition to anything, and why aren't people angrier at the Republicans who voted for the bill? rage-cry

No, this isn't accurate. It's frustrating that people keep saying this. Republicans would still have passed the bill if these three Democrats were alive. They have the majority and would have gathered together enough votes to pass the bill. This seems like a strange narrative that blames Democrats for what Republicans did.

So if the 3 dems were alive, there's a chance R's would have whipped harder.

However, we should appreciate the 1 vote margin since it's more fuel against the Dems as a party. They're unable to fulfill their function, and must be purged.

My ass is going to lose my medicaid since I'm not working. Wonderful, great, thanks so much dems for doing nothing for me and everything for pissrael.

Medicaid: The start date for new Medicaid work requirements will now kick in "no later than December 31, 2026." The original bill had the work requirements starting in 2029.

I already had to wait six months to see a specialist for my condition on Medicaid; can't wait to have this treatment not work and watch them run out the clock until they don't have to treat me for anything.

Yeah. At this rate I'm never going to see someone for my eczema and I'll lose access to my vision benefits and mental health meds. Love to go crazy, sure that will really get me "back to work".

If this bill becomes law, ICE will become the best-resourced law enforcement agency in the history of the country, with more funding for detention than the entire federal Bureau of Prisons.

Bluesky feels very strange to me right now. With the bill passing in the house - I expected dozens and dozens of posts like that but there are hardly any. Typical libs just don't seem to give much of a fuck if the GOP is doing something and not Trump. I shouldn't be surprised by any of this but I still am. Trump is always their main focus and bête Noire. Bluesky is very different from places like Reddit. Bluesky is a place for libs to pretend they're back at brunch™.

Well see if "progressives" like AOC didn't even exist at all, The Party wouldn't have had to continue to run ancient dying ghouls for office. So really it's actually the fault of leftists.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

aoc-denial guy was holding the whole thing together, now the republic will die

obviously this is some stupid electoralism or whatever but they struck a "for minors" provision from the HRT ban riding along and now there's an adult federal medicare hrt ban coming down.

During the final House vote, Republican lawmakers approached the speaker with congratulatory handshakes and back slaps. Someone also played Queen's "We Are The Champions" off a phone for about 10 seconds while the vote was underway. Republicans cheered, whistled and applauded when the threshold for passage was achieved at 6:54 a.m.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

the-democrat: “Tsk tsk tsk, getting things DONE?! After all we’ve done for you when we were in charge?! Wait until the voters catch whiff of your poor sportsmanship! I just might vote for a republican next election myself out of pity for what’s coming!”

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Some dems get so weird and use the passive voice (or quasi-passive voice) when talking about what the GOP must or must not do. Bipartisanship brain is a hell of a thing.

This is part of a Bluesky post.

The horrendous bill that the House just passed 215-214 had better be subject to filibuster in the Senate.

He's a MSNBC legal talking head that loves to mention bipartisan efforts to uphold the constitution etc.

[–] ClassIsOver@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

had better be subject to filibuster in the Senate.

We'll see if the vote is scheduled at the same time as a tech industry oversight meeting.

Fucking fuck fucking fucker fuck! What is this government's problem with allowing people to live? I guess we're only killing off the non-workers, so only the worthless people, right? Except, y'know, CEOs and landlords who don't work either, but they make plenty of money and don't have to worry about Medicaid. Burn this fucking thing to the ground!

Sorry but staying inside playing video games isn't productive enough, unlike sitting inside and talking about made up problems on TV or playing golf while consuming large amounts of alcohol.
