Nearing the end of looking after hambam.

Seen a big shift in behaviour over the last 3 and a bit weeks. All it took was wearing him out and giving him more off lead freedom.

I'll miss his burps and random little sleep / dream woofing throughout the night.

Fun Numbers:
Paid into Offset acct $141,932.00
Paid Off Loan $31,895.60
Paid in Interest $69,771.62

Fuck me dead.

As much as I look forward to being free from landlords, the prospect of digesting these kinds of unfathomably large numbers as a single person is also daunting. Ouch.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't into gardening, pesky expensive thing to be involved in if you want even a little handkerchief of usable land...

Just told my manager that I'm unhappy in my role and will be looking for another job. He took it well, said he's happy to be a reference for me and willing to work on a good timeline with me. Really appreciate that. I'm sure HR will have other feelings, but I understand that!

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

It's great your manager is so understanding. Maybe it's a hint at how they feel too

Sly Stone from Sly and the Family Stone has passed away. I'll pour one out this Friday for the legend.

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 11 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (2 children)

Just sent a client proposal which took a long time to complete and I know I'm being pitted against one other business for this work. Fingers crossed it comes through to me, but we'll see. The other business is far more established / has a team of staff so it feels like I can't compete, but I gave it a real crack. I've had a few proposals fall through recently (but at least they were quick to prepare), I really hope this one doesn't end up a huge waste of time.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 9 points 4 weeks ago

Gotta be in it to win it! Best of luck🀞

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago

Good luck, I hope you get it!

I have one quiz and one oral presentation until I'm finished with this certificate! And I've done most of that quiz anyway, just stick on question that the teacher had acknowledged is poorly written haha.

But after Friday, after this presentation, I'll be done! Then I just need to find a job (any tbh) so I can pay to get lessons for driving, then I can apply for more animal industry jobs.

Everything is coming up thrillhouse!

That’s fabulous, you’ve done so well.

One step at a time and you’ll have it all done under no time!

Have you ever made a meal you'd be embarrassed to show a friend?

That's the nachos I'm eating right now lol

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I was a vegetarian for about a decade when I was younger, and I made a lot of dhals and lentil and legume curries. A lot of the food I ate was outstandingly tasty but looked like baby shit lol

I'm sure I could make Italians embarrassed with my rice cooker risotto. Me embarrassed, no way. It was good.

Lots of pasta in mushroom soup.

Nachos sounds like a winner though!

Hi everyone, here's your reminder it is actually Tuesday and not Monday at the start of this working week.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 9 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Vegetable and bean stew for dinner last night and for lunch today. My musical contributions are... not very welcome in the office. But the stew is so full of goodness! 2 carrots, 1 large swede, 1 small parsnip, 1 whole leek, a small stick of celery, tomato paste, and just 1 medium potat. But like 2 cups of dried kidney beans. I'll just have to go on strategic breaks...

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

That stew is the definition of 'hearty'.

I just received what was supposed to be a dustpan and brush set from Temu. They've sent me a vibration platform exercise machine instead. The Australian warehouses don't seem to be that great at sending the right thing.

The machine is pink and has a cat decoration on it. I'd suspect Miss Meow was involved somehow if I couldn't see the order history...

Edit: I do like the design, but I have put it up on Marketplace. They sell for $133, compared to the $22 of the dustpan I actually paid for.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

can confirm, cats love those things. I have one, and ours like to clamber all over it. Somewhere I have video footage of misha letting out the most hilarious warbleyowl known to man

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm so up for this random shit with my order that's on the way. Let the mystery packages begin!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I haven't had much issue with the wrong thing being delivered until I started getting stuff from the Australian warehouses. They seem to like sending me completely different but more expensive items.

Love long weekends, hate the weeks after.

Cannot be arsed with anything today.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I worked real hard on the long weekend, I am so tired even my hands and fingers are tired

Love a vague warning light coming on in the car. I'll feed it some coolant when it cools down a bit, hopefully that makes it happy.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago

Probably worth a quick look over to see if there's any obvious coolant leaks, or really any obvious leaks.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago

I've finished a lot of the painting and am now setting up and organising the room . Pooped.

But once it's done I'll be free to do all the other things. 😊

One thing I have been doing is watching furniture repair and restoration instructional videos. It's been good. It's given me the nudge to be patient and get skills and the will to do jobs thoroughly. Problem now is I'm eyeing all the furniture I have that have little problems, like a wobbly leg or some scratches, and feel I should really fix them all up.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago

It's been a bit of a lazy day today, but I have gotten the new garage remote programmed and put up the outdoor security cameras. I can now check if anything is happening out the front of the house without leaving my couch.

I'm trying to summon the enthusiasm to do a bit more unpacking/sorting. I'm heading back to Melbourne tomorrow to pick up another load of stuff, hopefully I can at least get the remaining things from the fridge/freezer and the most important things from the shed.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago

Today's late start brought to you by the twit who tried to drive a B double under the Newmarket bridge

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 8 points 4 weeks ago

Slept terribly last night because a work thought popped into my brain at 11pm and I spent the rest of the night stressing, despite reminding myself that in that moment, there was nothing I could do to change the outcome.

Slept 12 hours. Feel a bit better but not in the best of moods :(

Am trying to find something to do to keep me busy but it's really hard.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Ugh… sketchy random dude persistently knocking on my door with fidgety agitated body language. Not answering that.

I'm ahead of schedule on work but so behind on my thesis, lalalala... At least I'm winning at something in life. Had a wee chat about options after and there's some leeway for working remotely but it depends on what comes in. Boss is very sympathetic to my wanting a break from Melbourne to help reset things. It's just that the next few months are very uncertain in terms of workload so, we'll have to see.

Might be an ad-hoc/super part time thing while I'm away which is good enough at this point.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago

goodnight everyone

sweet dreams 😘

Heating is busted at work, glad I brought an extra warm jumper in today.

Well neither melatonin or Restavit work very well. I’ve just bought some actual caffeinated coffee to have in the mornings in the hopes that will help.

Unfortunately there’s the risk of aggravating anxiety and my stomach. I wish I’d been able to get one of those tiny 50g jars

you have to order from the US, but sleep aid (which is basically American Benadryl) is an antihistamine like Restavit but a bit more powerful.
