They've been "upgrading" the hardware and software for their fingerprint scanner since they moved away from the only one that ever worked well: the dedicated sensor on the back of the 5. Bring that one back. Every single pixel since the 5 has had an absolutely garbage fingerprint scanner, including the 9.

The rear scanner on my old Pixel 2 was so much faster and more reliable than any under-screen sensor I've ever used.

I don't know why they can't just stick with what works. It's been over 5 years since under-screen sensors hit the market and they're still worse than their predecessors.

7a sensor is trash.

I was tempted to say the sensor on the 8 Pro is fine, but the truth is, I mostly use face unlock.

I have had no problems whatsoever on my pixel 9's fingerprint scanner. in fact it's been the most reliable fingerprint scanner I've had in a smartphone ever. it's fast, rarely misses and doesn't blind me in the dark

That's a great idea. I have deleted and redone my thumb prints multiple times because they won't be recognized on every other unlock on my P9 Pro
