My question to younger Japanese: What immigrants? You're one of the least immigrant friendly nations on Earth.
A 19-year-old woman who attends a vocational school in Wakayama Prefecture became a supporter because of the party's proposal for the "liberalization of mask wearing" in the 2022 House of Councillors election as official COVID-19 policy.
And seriously? You're famous for wearing masks before Covid, but now it's suddenly an issue? What alt-media are these clowns consuming.
the most anti-immigration people are often the ones who haven't met an immigrant in their life. this is how right-wing scaremongering works, they exploit people's unfamiliarity with the topic to convince them it's somehow a threat to them
It’s not even alt-media, the LDP the party that’s been in power in Japan since literally forever [Since 1955, they only haven’t been the ruling party for 4 years], well this party is going all in on the xenophobic alt right bullshit right now, they keep on lurching the overton window further and further right.
And this is the same party that has near total control of education, is schmoozed up to all the media elites etc.
