Explanation: Early in Church history, the question of the nature of the Christian Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) was... deeply contentious. To the point where taking the wrong stance at the wrong time could very much get you killed.

To heighten the absurdity, to those who grew up outside of the Christian tradition, all sides sound a bit incoherent. "Jesus Christ is made of SIMILAR stuff to the Father (who He also is) but not the SAME"

Is Jesus half-human half-god, or full-human and full-god at the same time? And in the second case is his humanity and divinity separate in one person or one thing that is inseparable? Careful the wrong answer will cost you your life ...

If you want weird, look at the Athanasian Creed. Here's a snippet:

"... For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty coeternal.Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated. The Father infinite; the Son infinite; and the Holy Ghost infinite. The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinites, but one uncreated; and one infinite. So likewise the Father..." and it goes on and on and on like this, never actually saying what they are. It's a headache to get through.

Religions don’t have plot holes, they only have “mysterious ways”

It's like modern fandoms debating their favourite characters, but a little more violently.

I mean, The Father and The Son are easily understood.

What the fuck is the Holy Spirit, tho? To me, it just sounds like angels or God himself appearing to people in forms other than as a humanoid entity.

Father: big guy upstairs

Son: that's a human person

Holy Spirit: etc

Son: that’s a human person
