Can we have a few more details of what these interactions are, please? Because if Police simply charged in with batons swinging, it's a problem worthy of much wider coverage. The way she's worded this sounds cagey though - like she's painting herself in a positive light and not asking for any sort of investigation into the incident nor calling out for excessive force/assault against the officer(s) involved.

That's a pretty standard and accurate description of most protests, I don't think it's intended to hide anything. It's just highlighting the simple fact that there's no reason for police to use violence on a peaceful person. There's essentially no way this could be justified anyway, it's not like she was about to attack someone. That SMH article kinda points out the big thing, the protestors were talking to the police trying to understand exactly what was happening from a legal standpoint, and then the cops escalated for no apparent reason.

This happens a lot. It's really important to understand exactly what powers cops are exercising and if they're allowed to, because they lie constantly in order to manipulate and intimidate people. This whole thing is rotten with the smell of authoritarian crap. It's not illegal to protest, but our right to do so is rapidly being incriminated and things like this will only become more common as the police are praised for beating the communities they claim to protect.
