corbyn strikes me as a british version of fetterman since he's a politican that the liberals supported despite him not earning any of their accolades and only because he wasn't the conservative politician.

it makes me wonder if the british are any smarter than the americans perpetually vascillating between the american republican/democrat duopoly in the next election.

EDIT: i'm confusing corbyn with starmer.

Are you talking about John Fetterman? I can't tell because that would be such a baffling thing to say but I don't know what other Fetterman you might mean. Also, liberals supporting Corbyn? Do you mean other than the entire liberal establishment working to sabotage his campaign to the point of taking measures that are at least legally dubious?

why is it baffling with john fetterman?

i'm likewise baffled to learned that the labour party tried to sabotage corbyn's compaign considering his support for the genocide.

Corbyn called Israel a disease, and the BBC Zionist liars. Idk how you're getting that he supports Israel.

Fair mistake, all Brits give off the same imperial vibe, hard to overlook

Probably one of the worst cultural inheritance for Americans. Lol

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago

yes, starmer.

It's baffling with Fetterman because he's a deranged and stupid attack dog that even many zionists don't like because he makes them look bad, and also I don't think Corbyn supports Israel, much less makes an entire career of it like Fetterman, even if perhaps he doesn't oppose it as much as we would like. He still advocates for an end to the occupation and for the UK to completely stop sending Israel weapons. Fetterman would literally call Corbyn Hamas.

Hopefully you remember that a good segment of the Labour Party joined with the rest of the liberal establishment in smearing Corbyn as an anti-semite and so on, but there's extensive documentation that even within his campaign there were absurd lengths people went to to basically embezzle campaign money to make him believe it was being spent according to the official strategy when it was not.

this smells like the biden/harris administration "wishing" that they could stop sending weapons to isreal despite them being the only ones with the power to do so; are his hands tied by the uk gov't in doing this somehow because the biden/harris literally broke the american government's laws to do the same thing.

Do you think he ever became Prime Minister? He lost the election, partly due to the smear campaigns and sabotage that I just mentioned. I feel like you are either confusing Corbyn for someone else (Starmer?) or talking about someone you know nothing about.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yes, i confused him with starmer.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Alright, yeah, Starmer is a massive piece of shit zionist, but Corbyn is the biggest somewhat leftist voice in UK politics.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yes, he reminds me of bernie or aoc

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think he's a little better, but still in the same general realm, yeah.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Definitely better and only similar in their positions as more left than the mainstream parties.

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you know corbyn hasn't ever been prime minister right?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

🤦

i confused corbyn with starmer; nevermind. lol
