neat caught-in-4che

there have been situations where gays have been pressured into transition in iran, afaik that is true. but its not nearly as widespread as this claim makes it seem, and this particular claim is meant to downplay the improvement to life of transgender people, as Iran has provided transgender surgeries to much of the middle east's transgender population (who can afford it). downplaying the tangible improvement to the quality of life of trans people is patently transphobia.

and shipping homeless trans people out of sight in china? yeah ok whatever raiden-source the closest thing ive heard to that is being deported back to your home province (china has internal passports to preserve culture and language) if you lose your visa to live in a particular place. they always make sure you have a place to live in this situation. the absolute worst ive heard is from a trans person who got deported back to their hometown and had to live with their parents for a bit (they have to take you in), and what this trans person did is apply for a plot of land (free) so they could build their own house

Also fuck some loser using SV victims to make a point. Let those SV victims speak for themselves. As one myself it drives me up the fucking wall when people bring this shit up for political slapfights online.

Most places in the world are fairly equally shit for trans people. If a place is doing well, it is often hard for trans people still. If a place is in war and in famine, downgrade those conditions a step as you would if it were somewhere nice and calm.

And Iran isn't even the worst conditions. Of the countries with the most trans surgeries, the USA is number one, Thailand is two, and Iran is three. Iran's major cities are very modern and even look nicer to live in than many American ones.

Cost of living is very important to trans people, as we are often making less due to discrimination. Every trans person I've talked to in China has mentioned the discrimination and some unusual cultural quirks, but they've also mentioned they've not met a single homeless trans person. For the record, it's very easy to find homeless trans people in America, you can find some on hexbear even in our mutual aid comm. And despite the discrimination, these Chinese trans people have cheap housing in the downtown of major cities

Strides Pharma has recalled over 400,000 cartons of its Testosterone Gel 1% across the U.S. and Canada due to trace amounts of benzene, a known carcinogen. Although no injuries have been reported, transgender patients who use the gel are urged to review lot numbers and speak with providers about safe alternatives. This recall affects both 2.5-gram and 5-gram unit-dose packets distributed since 2023.
