We just had a window replaced and the installer seems to have chosen a narrower window. There is now a gap outside the window - that is the vinyl ledge that the window sits on is wider than the width of the window itself.
Seems like something that would collect water when it rains.
Is this OK? Should it be caulked or something to ensure water stays out?

Does the window rattle in the frame? If not it's pawbably sealed?
