Has that website actually achieved anything of relevance?

[–] artyom@piefed.social -1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Anytime I see a petition for anything, it's usually hosted there.

But has it achieved anything being hosted there?

[–] artyom@piefed.social -3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Yes, I've just explained this. The achievement is being the go-to place for petitions.

So you indirectly actually answered it: No, it didnt.

In case you didnt notice: I wanted to know if they influenced anything.

[–] artyom@piefed.social -3 points 8 months ago

No, I answered it directly.

The question isn't if the site has achieved anything, but if the petitions on the site have. They're rarely successful

[–] artyom@piefed.social 1 points 8 months ago

That goes for the vast majority of petitions in general.

Use whatever platform your country uses for Citizen Initiatives, it's often more effective than that website.

Unfortunately ours was sunset by Biden some years ago.

What would being open source accomplish? I think the official sites of governments are better suited because there is at least some official recognition involved.

Any examples?

I know only of the UK one.

Can't be bothered to look up the exact addresses, but I also know of the German and EU one.

I never heard about somebody reaxhed something with change.org... Its Mord like a data Grab site...

I mean the Herman gvmnt has an official site for such stuff for example https://epetitionen.bundestag.de/epet/startseite.html

Is the lack of source code access the problem with change.org? It's just a one-sided popularity poll website masquerading as activism.
