I just saw Between The Buried And Me in concert for the first time a few moments ago. Yeah the photo is blurry and shitty but still I'm still sharing it cause they've been my favorite band since 2011 (I'm a late bloomer), after I only finally gave them a chance (after many recommendations in the 2000's) because Tommy was one of the guests on a Devin Townsend album, among the greatest guests possible (Ihsahn, Akerfeldt, Duplantier, Masvidal, Thordendal, ...). But I immediately fell "in love" and had no opportunity to see them live till now.

If you like prog metal but you've never gave them a chance because they're listed as "metalcore", I suggest you don't be a dumb-dumb like me and not waste years before finally listening to one of their albums (or even better, live albums)

if you hate metalcore, try the instrumental version of alaska

I don’t really hate metalcore (I hate "mallcore" though), I just think the term is very often wrongfully used

I love Alaska with the vocals, as well as the first 2 albums and Prayer For Cleansing

yes, I am speaking to those on the fence, not you. You already like BTBAM. I hate metalcore, and I got into them much later (after finding swim to the moon on a guitar tab site)

Man, if I had to pick a single song to be stuck on an island with, it would be Swim To The Moon

They didn't play it (1h festival set so...) but they closed with Disease, Injury, Madness so I'm more than happy

The first time I saw them live, my jaw dropped when they pulled off the opening moments of “astral body“ perfectly, live.

Not universally, but quite a bit of their albums reminds me of Dream Theater, with its everybody-play-the-arpeggios simultaneously, but with some dude screaming over it. I got used to LaBrie live, so this isn’t a step down. (but then there’s the occasional ragtime piano for no real reason).

Oof LaBrie live, you must be able to endure anything 😅 (jk)

I couldn't stand Dream Theater in the 90's when my big brother listened to it (and I was a teen just getting into metal, mainly thrash and extreme), but after listening to Coma Ecliptic I now really like them (and Yes)
