Hello everyone, I operate an instance previously defederated by this instance known as lemmy.comfysnug.space and we were defederated because many people didn't like our current rules.

Well we have since changed our rules and are no longer allowing the content that so many people complained about. So we were hoping to be able to get refederated with other instances including this one. What do people think, do we deserve a second chance to be federated again?

(I'm posting from a lemm.ee account because my main is on the Defederated Instance, there's no other real way for me to do this).

What was the offending content anyway? (don't post the actual content, obviously)

The original rules of lemmy.comfysnug.space explicitly allowed for loli content to be posted. I associate loli content with pedophilia and therefore was the reason why I had defederated with them.

This issue has me kind of torn, on one hand I feel like people should get second chances in certain situations but on the other hand there are some things that are too severe to so quickly forgive.

I mean the whole reason they were defederated is because they allowed CSAM (referred to as loli) which is a huge legal liability. Even though they seem to have changed their rules and no longer allow said content I don't think it would be a good idea to refederate. If it were something different or less severe I would be open to it, but as it is the prior violations make it seem too risky in my opinion to refederate.

Could you post the current rules for us to review?

I'm leery of visiting the instance due to the possible content there.

Since this wasn't something we voted on, it means it was done by @TheDude@sh.itjust.works or another admin, probably to avoid legal liability in Canada. Since the admins proactively took the step to defederate you need to talk to him in order to refederate

I'd be in favor of this, personally. If there are now rules against the offending content and it is actively being moderated, then that's solved the issue.

Very sus Local content – with the previous rules and incidents, I don't think we can risk it just yet. Make your content less weird.

Yeah, I don't know man. If you allowed drawn child porn once I don't think you're the kind of instance anybody should give a second chance to.

I'm forgiving but not to pedophiles
