I really thought they were going to work Seattle's starting pitcher into the dirt with a 25 pitch first inning. Then they just... swung at everything? Not sure what happened, whether they lost confidence in the umpire's strike zone, or if the pressure to press their advantage got to them, or what, but it was so frustrating!

They've been good this year about bouncing back from games like that, so hopefully we're heading to the coast all tied up.

Yeah, i was so excited we were en route to chasing their starter early... but we did even worse against thier bullpen, lol

Their bullpen is a bit of a problem. Their leverage guys are good. They could have set themselves up for an easy series if they could have turned yesterday into a bullpen game, but alas...

Perhaps too much festivities after the ALDS win? Those extra days off seemed to do anything but good.

I also never understood why it's such a party for each one of clinching a playoff spot, clinching the league, winning each playoff series. Like, yeah I get it's rare, but they haven't actually won anything yet.

In my eyes, a team that wants to win is a team that doesn't celebrate that way until the job is done.

Damn, fam, this is brutal...

It sure is. We're seeing what we inflicted on NY, lol. By the way, thanks for the gameday thread setups.

Back to the Toronto of old, swinging at everything, hollow responses and fumbling balls. Franchise collapse of epic proportions. Mariners sweep in 4, unless something dramatically changes.

I hope they give us a glimpse of hope in game 3 so we can turn the tide.

I wouldn't even waste money putting fuel in the jet at this point. I don't know what the hell has gotten into these guys, like all they had to do was go play 0.75 times as hard as they did against the Yankees, and we wouldn't be having this convo. Seattle's got a good bullpen, but come on.

Damn. Toronto fans at the skydome... look so dejected already.

I still believe... LETS GO BLUE JAYS

I've got 40+ years of being a Toronto sports fan, and id advise you personally to not waste your energy. Believe when there's something to believe in, and this ain't it. MAYBE they'll wake up for game 3, but Seattle is going to be nuts and I have a hard time reconciling how they are going to bail out of this scenario.

I agree with your experience as a toronto sports fan....

But i dont live in toronto anymore and i believe in miracles! Save your realism for the leafs... they are truly cursed and not worth your energy

I don't live in Toronto either, but I want one more win before I die. That goes for all of em too.

Davis Schneider replaces Santander, who was pulled d/t back soreness. Today's lineup:

  1. Springer DH
  2. Lukes RF
  3. Guerrero 1B
  4. Barger 3B
  5. Kirk C
  6. Varsho CF
  7. Clement 2B
  8. Schneider LF
  9. Gimenez SS

Glad to see Lukes back in the lineup after leaving the game yesterday

I'm glad we got 2 back! We can build on that quality half-inning

NJ, Trey, putting up a zero! πŸ’ͺ

Good job Yesavage, that's how you bounce back after a rocky start. Onto the bottom of the 4th, let's score some runs.

Starting to wonder if the Tigers would have been easier opponents lol.

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

They def would have been, especially with Skubal pitching DS5

Exactly. Going back to Seattle down 2-0 is certainly an experience.

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I underestimated Seattle :/. It's wild how different the Jays are this series so far vs last series

[–] Nevrome@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

Unrecognizable. I do hope they turn things around in Seattle. I still have faith, albeit a tad less after what we've seen in TO.

I mean... at least the ump is consistent.... lots of borderline calls going both ways

Just stings more when it goes against the jays

[–] Nevrome@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

Tight, and narrow.
