Countries of Western Europe also took their sweet time before they actually joined in. Poland was supported by thoughts and prayers for a very long period - pretty much until other countries were attacked directly.

Poland was invaded on Sept 1st 1939, France and England declared war on Germany on the 3rd. 2 days is a very long period?
Let me introduce you to the phoney war: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoney_War Pretty much nothing happened until May 1940.
Sweden that was untouched in WW2 got an enormous boost out of that. The USA too.
But it looks like countries are catching up.
This is a very confusing meme if you recognize the characters and try to think of how the title relates to their stories before realizing that the actors/characters don't mean anything in particular.
