Doesn't matter what you make, how interesting it is, what its uses are. What society collectively hyper-focuses on is its impact on the stock exchange.

This sounds highly dependent on media intake. I’d wager some folks literally never hear about the market impact depending on what they consume. Do you feel your consumption habits are more conducive to “market reflection” or “benefit to society?”

Most exiting new technologies, I find, people don't talk about and aren't part of publicly listed company.

Poor people live vicariously through their rulers to avoid acknowledging how shitty their lives actually are.
