Really, go touch some grass, Mr. IP adress.

I love how contradictory this sentence is.

[-] robo@feddit.uk 1 points 1 year ago

How is that contradictory?

The type of person you'd tell to go outside would be someone on the computer.

"Touch grass, Mr. Park Ranger" would be contradictory.

[-] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago

It really not contradictory, but rather hypocrite. I wasn't finding the right word when writing that comment.

I say this because that person first orders the other to touch some grass, but then immediately teases them for not using a registered Wikipedia account, which kinda sounds like something that only a person who hasn't touched grass in a long time would do...

Wikipedia actually is pretty good enternanment platform.

When you have an account it recommends articles to you which sometimes are pretty hilarious or just generally intresting

Equivalent to saying Dnd originated from mexico because my dungeon master is Mexican.

Just because a gay guy smoked pot doesn't make stoner culture gay

[-] Sneptaur@pawb.social 16 points 1 year ago

If you read the article it says the saying was popularized in 2019 after a stoner YouTuber came out as gay or something

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 21 points 1 year ago

I feel like "hits different" is way older than that

[-] Sneptaur@pawb.social 12 points 1 year ago

If you can find the source for that, you should update the Wikipedia article

[-] Franzia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 year ago

"Popularized" specifically removes the provenance.

Look there's a whole entertainment complex of entertaining Gen Z with culture that's older than them, repackaging the same jokes into short form because they don't have access to the same TV and movies. But don't let them just own these words like they are brand new.

I love the level of confidence in this comment without almost any context.

What is gay/stoner?

[-] oldGregg@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

???????

Gay is homosexual.

Stoner is a participant in weed culture.
