Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).

No we really aren't. We are still decades to a century at the least from anything even resembling actual sentience.
"A.I." is nothing more than a scaled up, fancy autocorrect.
I know. I was just adding to the joke in the universe where we already have sentient microwaves.
If this ever happens I am going to put my soldering iron to good use and figure out a way to lobotomize my microwave.
Is there a name for the trope of something topical but not strictly necessary happening incidental to a punchline like the microwave in the last panel?
I know I've seen it in other places, but the only other instance I can think of is the people saying "I am a consumer whore!" "And how!" in the Rejected cartoon, and I'm not even sure that qualifies.
Maybe a few things that happen in the asdfmovies too, but they often introduce a recurring gag or a different joke entirely.
Admit it: you'd find out what the new mouth on that bad boy could do.
