That's been known from the start.
I think it was probably intended to hit a price point comparable to the steam deck, but with the DRAM price hikes, I doubt it will be anything reasonable.
That $500M super yacht certainly isn't cheap to run
But you must apparently worship steam and kiss their feet for being the good billionaire company.
The writing was on the wall ever since the OLED version debuted with a modified SoC optimized for low wattage performance.
I can't imagine it made much sense to keep the production line running for the older silicon.
Keeping my eyes on an Ayn dual screen model or Retroid or Anbernic something for my emulation machine upgrade over the basic Game Boy like model that is currently gathering dust on my nightstand

Kinda unfortunate, I never pulled the trigger because I didn't think I'd use it enough but a super cheap x86 handheld is an awesome product to exist.
