I still don't get why they spend tax money on the military but when we need a penny to pay for our rent suddenly there's a deficit.

Nation-states only pretend to serve the people, and Western nations have shown us repeatedly that their laws are only meant for control and oppression. Never to use on upper classes.
The purpose of a system is what it does.
Without a massive, sprawling, byzantine bureaucracy to oversee the nation's squads of ruthless killers, everyone in Canada would be speaking... idk, Muslim or something. Evil Foreigners would be all up in your business, is my point.
Meanwhile, if you weren't up to your eyeballs in debt, how would we entice you to work triple overtime at the radioactive burn pit?
