I had no idea the game dates to the Ming dynasty! I would have guessed it was 300 years old, not over 2000.

I can’t find it in the article, but there’s another version that makes even more sense to me. I remember there used to be rock, plant, scissors. The rock destroys the scissors. The scissors cut the plant. The plant grows and cracks the rock.

Strictly worse than Odds and Evens.

One player is "Odds" and the other one is "Evens". Someone says "Odds, evens, says, SHOOT!" On "shoot", each player holds out either one or two fingers. If the sum of the fingers is odd, Odds wins. If the sum of the fingers is even, Evens wins.

It's better because there are no ties.

In Japan, a strip game variant of rock paper scissors is known as 野球拳 (Yakyūken). The loser of each round removes an article of clothing. The game is a minor part of porn culture in Japan and other Asian countries
