Fallout Shelter (working title) is a new reality competition series based on the hit Amazon drama and computer game of the same name. The dwellers (contestants) live together in a top-secret vault, where they will compete in a series of games that tests the seven core attributes from the Fallout world. Strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility and luck (S.P.E.C.I.A.L).

The series will not only test dwellers’ core attributes, but also their loyalty and alliances. It’s a game of power dynamics, popularity and social strategy which will ultimately result in a huge cash prize, but do you have what it takes to be the most S.P.E.C.I.A.L?.

I am sort of speechless, but for all the wrong reasons.

There is a reason why some of us only like FO1/FO2 and New Vegas.

Tactics has that old school cred as long as you aren't too fixated on lore precision. It's a good game with an overall interesting premise made by a totally different team that gives it some outside perspective.

Tactics is a solid release, just not my kind of game.

Nah, people look for different things in RPGs.

Not to mention that IMO doesn't really apply to some nerdy video game discussion.

This IP is my personal star wars that I'm watching turn into slop.

In ten years I'll be like one of those star wars fans who tries to bury that old interest with other more mature hobbies

That ship has sailed.

That being said, there are lots of good indie RPGs with a similar setting; UnderRail, Atom RPG, Space Wreck.

The biggest issue is that indies struggle with making third-person fully 3D RPGs.

I mean, that's how Fallout literally started. I don't need full 3d, I just need something with half of a soul and not made in the latest Unreal Engine

I am totally good with isometric turn-based RPGs, that's mostly what I play these days.

That being said, I wouldn't mind a real sequel to VTMB or even a more RPG-focused Alpha Protocol.

Indeed, I would have also loved a more immersive VTMB sequel.

You should post any good stuff you find coming forward. I'll take any recommendations from this comm

Check out: !crpg@lemmy.world

I mod/curate there too, mainstream CRPGs make up most of the content, but indie CRPGs are definitely covered.

sad way to live that you dont allow yourself to enjoy things anymore because of things completely out of your control

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Sometimes there's just not new enjoyment to be had? Like, I had my golden years with it. But the way markets effect things like IP, there just isn't a reason to linger. Finding new hobbies can be rejuvenating too.

Edit: also it means I'll get to have wistful moments in the future where some random thing makes me pause and reflect on all the feelings I associate with Fallout. Before melodramatically sweeping all those feelings aside and double down on whatever new fascination I'm currently pursuing
